Showtime for Clonmore!

It is a big year for the local Clonmore Robert Emmets GFC, with the club celebrating its centenary year in 2016. Over the first few months of 2016 there have been a number of celebration events including the Centenary Year Launch Night, the Centenary Quiz and in March the Club Cead Big Draw and Coffee Morning and April will see the culmination of weeks of hard work put in by a cast of over fifty five members of the Clonmore community in the form of “The Centenary Show Spectacular”.

This show sets to showcase the vast array of local talent within the club and Clonmore vicinity and indeed Clonmore Hall has been open almost every evening of the week for the past few weeks in preparation for the show. Clonmore is very lucky to have a bank of talent with the backbone for cast of the show coming in the form of the acclaimed Clonmore Choir and the Clonmore Players drama group who both have become accustomed to the stage over the past few years.

Seasoned director and current chairperson of the club Gerard Cunningham continues: “This is a massive year for the club and for the memories of the generations of club and family members who were staunch support of the Emmets. With the local talent in the area it seemed that a show of this kind was a natural event to include in the centenary celebrations. I have been involved in a number of productions across a number of clubs in recent times and I am very proud of the hard work that not only the cast but the background team such as set designers, ticket sellers, costume assistants etc. have put in to the Clonmore show. It promises to be a great mix of entertainment from Irish song to Broadway numbers and we are very excited that the first night of the show has already sold out. It has been a time-consuming effort but one that I think the cast, crew and audience will relish come next weekend.”

The show includes scenes from Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast as well as comedy drama from the Clonmore Players and an Irish-themed scene. The show takes place in Clonmore Hall with curtains at 8pm sharp on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of April. Tickets  can be booked by calling 07793 227297 or 07905 387368.
